Job Title: Operating Room Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Operating Room Duration: 26 weeks Shift: Night 3x12-Hour Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years in trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic nursing License: Valid state license required, compact license preferred Certifications: BLS certification required Must-Have: - Trauma experience - Neuro experience - Vascular experience - Orthopedic experience Description: Applicants need to possess experience in trauma, neuro, vascular, and orthopedic specialties due to the nature of the unit. On-call duties may be required, with call being distributed equally among all nursing staff every six weeks. Travelers may be expected to float between similar units. Staffing on night shifts is typically two individuals, either one RN and one surgical technologist or two RNs. This role covers a variety of surgical procedures including general surgery, trauma, vascular, and orthopedic cases. Nursing staff will be assisting in cases involving total joint replacements, neurosurgery, and more specialized surgical procedures. Adherence to universal protocols and infection control measures is mandatory. Nursing staff will participate in interdisciplinary support, collaborating with respiratory services, radiology, and pharmacy. Candidates must be flexible with their schedules, including coverage for holidays. References are required that reflect the candidate’s experience within the last three years. Commitment to scheduled shifts is essential for job fulfillment. Inflexibility regarding scheduling may lead to termination of the contract. Traveling nurses are expected to uphold professional standards and carry out all assigned duties effectively.
