About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Telemetry Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 1 year in a relevant specialty License: Active nursing license required Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: - Minimum of 1 year of experience with EPIC EMR - Charge experience preferred - Patient ratio experience of 6:1 required Description: Shift is from 1900 to 0730. The schedule consists of three 12-hour night shifts per week. Floating to other like units may be required as needed. Weekend coverage is required every other weekend, subject to change based on need. Patient diagnoses may include higher oxygen demands, dialysis patients, atrial fibrillation, and post-heart catheterization. This unit provides step-down care from the ICU without ventilator or pressor support. Approved drips include heparin, cardizem, amiodarone, and sotolol initiation. Telemetry monitoring is a primary function of the unit. Other skill requirements include BiPAP/CPAP management, blood product administration, and central line care/management. Daily patient census is approximately 28. The unit comprises a total of 28 beds. Interdisciplinary support services include physical therapy, respiratory services, social services, pharmacy, and rapid response teams. All agency staff must float to other units as requested due to census concerns. Competencies must be demonstrated and documented for the tasks performed. Modules are billable and must be completed prior to the start of the contract. Compliance with health and safety protocols is essential in this role. The nurse will be responsible for the management and care of patients within the telemetry unit. Wound care and management of dysrhythmias are also essential functions of this position. The candidate must demonstrate sound clinical judgment and strong communication skills.
