Registered Nurse - PACU

Join a Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU) team as a Registered Nurse (RN) for a 4-week assignment working 8- or 12-hour rotating Day/Evening shifts. The PACU RN will provide specialized post-anesthesia and critical care recovery services for high-acuity surgical patients in a large teaching hospital environment. This role requires advanced assessment skills, critical care expertise, and the ability to manage complex post-operative patients requiring intensive monitoring and interventions.

Requirements:

• 3+ years of clinical RN experience required
• 2+ years of PACU experience required
• Critical care PACU experience required
• Large teaching hospital experience required
• Epic experience within the past 2 years required
• BLS Certification required
• ACLS Certification required
• PALS Certification required
• Experience with arterial lines, cardiac monitoring, and multiple titratable drips required
• Strong post-anesthesia recovery and critical care assessment skills required
• Must be willing to work rotating weekends, holidays, and call shifts as needed
• No block scheduling permitted

Responsibilities include providing immediate post-anesthesia recovery care, performing comprehensive patient assessments, monitoring hemodynamic status and cardiac rhythms, managing arterial lines and invasive monitoring devices, administering and titrating vasoactive medications and critical care drips, managing pain and sedation protocols, recognizing and responding to post-operative complications, providing airway management and respiratory support, collaborating with anesthesia providers, surgeons, and interdisciplinary teams, documenting care accurately in Epic, educating patients and families, assisting with patient transfers, participating in call coverage, and ensuring safe, high-quality care for high-acuity surgical and procedural patients throughout the recovery process.
