CAYA Clinic in Madison, WI is currently seeking a Mental Health & Substance Use Counselor to join our team of passionate harm reduction psychotherapists. CAYA Clinic provides affordable treatment options for people who use drugs that would like to use safer, moderate their use, change their relationship with substances, or receive mental health, eating disorder, or trauma therapies with no abstinence requirements.

Mission: To meet people who use drugs in Wisconsin where they are and utilize evidence-based harm reduction therapy techniques to reduce drug-related harms, prevent overdose, and promote the empowerment of people who use drugs. All participants will have access to harm reduction supplies in addition to therapy. CAYA has a special emphasis on serving historically marginalized communities.

Vision: To end overdose and drug-related harms in Wisconsin by creating a community of people who use drugs that are committed to caring for themselves and each other.

Position Summary: This is a clinical counseling and psychotherapy position. The clinician provides assessment, intake, treatment planning, individual counseling, facilitates group therapy, keeps files per DHS 75.5 requirements. Works with a multidisciplinary treatment team to meet the clinical needs of each and every client. The clinician should be fully licensed as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, Substance Abuse Counselor, or Clinical Substance Abuse Counselor. We are looking for a compassionate, caring, and passionate harm reduction psychotherapist.

Principal functions:

1. Conducting biopsychosocial assessments for diagnosis in accordance with DSM-5-TR

2. Using evidence-based approaches for psychotherapy and counseling in individual therapy. Opportunities for family therapy and group therapy

3. Clinical documentation for intake, treatment plans, and progress notes, discharge, and transfer paperwork

4. Collaborate with the client to identify and work toward treatment goals of their choosing

5. Case management as needed to coordinate with multi-disciplinary teams and advocate for the client

6. Advocate for and empower client rights

7. Provide psychoeducation to clients on current drug trends and steps they can take to keep themselves and each other safe. Provide harm reduction supplies to all clients.

8. Collaborate with clients to identify risks (substance use, eating behaviors, suicide, self-harm, etc). Use psychoeducation when needed, safety plan when needed, motivational enhancement approaches when needed and work with the client to enhance safety in a way that aligns with the client's identified goals and needs.

9. Maintaining proper licensures and/ or certifications according to state requirements including peer consultation and supervision

10. Ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and policies.

11. Performing other tasks assigned by the Program Directors

12. Opportunities to provide clinical supervision to interns and pre-licensed clinicians

Minimum Qualifications: Education, Licensure, and Certification: Candidates must possess either a Master’s degree with full licensure as an LPC, LMFT, or LCSW. Candidates with a SAC or CSAC license are eligible if they also hold a Bachelor’s degree.

Experience Required: Full licensure required. Experience in assessing and treating substance use disorders preferred. Knowledge and experience with harm reduction preferred, or a willingness to learn

Have a deep commitment to social justice and the empowerment of people who use drugs.

Job Types: Part-time, Full-time

Pay: Split pay of 60% reimbursement for fully licensed clinicians
