Job Summary:
Operating Room (OR) Nurse opportunity available in Des Moines, Iowa. This role involves providing surgical patient care within a busy Level I trauma center, utilizing advanced technologies such as Da Vinci robots and EPIC electronic medical systems. The position requires flexibility to float across campuses and to work rotating shifts with evening, night, and weekend on-call responsibilities.

Job Details:

• Schedule: Rotating shifts, 10 hours per shift, minimum of 40 hours per week
• Required Qualifications: 24 months of current operating room experience (hospital/medical center experience prioritized), circulating or operating room experience required, scrub experience highly preferred, experience in general, Da Vinci Robotics, Pediatrics, and Trauma cases required, additional experience in neurology, orthopedics (primarily trauma), gynecology, urology, transplants, plastics, ENT, vascular highly preferred, EPIC electronic medical record experience within the last 3 years required, trauma Level I experience highly preferred, trauma Level II experience required, must be a first-time traveler or have completed a travel assignment in the past 15 months, active Iowa/IA license or multistate compact license required, current BLS (AHA) certification required, drivers license required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Trauma Level I experience highly preferred; trauma Level II experience required
• Float: Float rotation may be required across all campuses
• Additional Information:
  • Orientation Dates: 08/03/2026 and 08/10/2026 (sooner start dates prioritized)
  • Holiday Work: Required to work 1-2 of the upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed
  • Call Schedule: Up to 1 overnight per week and 3 weekends per 13-week contract, from end of shift Friday through Monday 06:30 AM
  • Caseload: Average of 35-50 cases per day with turnovers less than 20 minutes
  • Equipment & Service Lines: Use of 3 Da Vinci robots, Stealth neuro navigation, Synthes and Stryker for ortho trauma, service lines include Cardiac/PV, Neuro, Ortho trauma, robotics, GYN, URO, general, pediatrics, transplants, small volume ENT and plastics.
