Occupational Therapist

Job Summary:

The Occupational Therapist provides comprehensive therapy services in an outpatient setting, with responsibilities that may extend to acute care and skilled nursing facility (SNF) patients. This role involves evaluating, planning, and implementing occupational therapy treatments to improve patient function and quality of life. The therapist collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care, supporting a diverse patient population including pediatrics and adolescents. Strong clinical skills, adaptability, and effective communication are essential.

Responsibilities:

Conduct patient assessments and develop individualized occupational therapy treatment plans.
Deliver therapy interventions to outpatients, inpatients, and SNF patients according to best practices and facility protocols.
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physicians, nurses, and other therapists to coordinate patient care.
Document patient progress and treatment outcomes accurately in the electronic medical record system (Epic).
Provide therapy services for a diverse patient population, including pediatrics and adolescents.
Adapt therapy techniques to meet patient needs and facility requirements.
Maintain compliance with state licensure and professional standards.
Assist with wound care and other specialty therapy services as needed.
Support float coverage within the scope of practice across outpatient, acute care, and SNF settings.

Required Skills & Certifications:

Valid Occupational Therapist license in Alaska.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) certification.
Minimum of 1 year of occupational therapy experience preferred but first-time therapists accepted.
Ability to document and chart in electronic medical record systems (Epic preferred).
Strong clinical assessment and treatment planning skills.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

Experience working with pediatric and adolescent patient populations.
Experience in acute care, outpatient, and skilled nursing facility settings.
Knowledge of wound care therapy techniques.

Special Considerations:

No on-call requirements.
Floating within scope of practice to cover outpatient, acute care, and SNF units as needed.
Facility is a Level IV Trauma and Critical Access Hospital with 46 acute care and 22 long-term care beds.
Housing provided for travelers with restrictions: no pets allowed, single occupancy preferred, and cleaning required upon departure.
Parking is free for staff.
Scrub color flexible: any or business casual attire allowed.

Scheduling:

Shift options: 5 days per week, 8-hour shifts or 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (days).
Guaranteed 70 hours per two-week pay period with possibility of being called off for one 10-hour shift every two weeks.
Block scheduling is not accommodated.
