Registered Nurse - Medical Surgical Unit

Job Summary Provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. Schedule Day Shift, Part time – 7am–7pm, varying days (self‑scheduling based on needs). Requires work on every 3rd weekend and a holiday, no call requirement. Job Responsibilities Utilizes standards of medical‑surgical nursing practice to increase quality of care and quality of life for patients, families, and significant others. Establishes effective relationships and advocacy to facilitate development of individualized care plans. Uses the nursing process to develop and implement plans of care, collect assessment data, determine nursing diagnoses and expected outcomes, implement interventions, and evaluate outcomes. Develops assessment and management strategies considering physical, functional, cultural, social, economic, developmental, spiritual, vocational, and leisure dimensions of human responses to health problems. Demonstrates knowledge of the impact of actual or potential illness on patients’ status. Coordinates and collaborates with patient, family, significant others, communities, and inter‑professional team to assess needs, set goals, plan interventions, provide care, and evaluate outcomes. Participates with patient, family, and other health‑care providers in culturally sensitive, ethical, legal, holistic, informed, compassionate decision‑making. Educates patients, families, and significant others about measures to promote health, comfort, and recovery. Mentors and role‑models for nursing colleagues, students, and others to foster a healthy work environment. Applies evidence‑based practice and scientific knowledge to ensure patient‑age and clinical‑need–specific care. May perform point‑of‑care testing in accordance with policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned. Education & Experience Graduate of an accredited school of nursing or education equivalency for licensing. No prior experience required. Physical Requirements Constant speech and oral communication. Constant standing, walking, frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling of objects weighing 0‑25 lbs. Frequent sitting, reaching, keyboard use, visual and auditory tasks. Occasional lifting/carrying of 25‑50 lbs, patient movement, bending, stooping, kneeling, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm actions. Occasional driving; rare crawling and running. Licenses & Certifications State of Missouri Registered Nurse (RN) – Missouri Division of Professional Registration or issued by Compact State.
