Maintenance Superintendent

AHF Products has a great opportunity for career growth for a Maintenance Superintendent at our Kankakee Plant. The Maintenance Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day maintenance operations for the 380,000 square foot facility and safely leading the corresponding teams to deliver on the plant's strategic objectives. This position has five direct reports and their supporting teams. Essential Functions And Responsibilities Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties: Be a role model for safety. Promote a zero-injury safety culture and find ways to continuously improve safety culture in the workplace. Stop any observed work activities or conditions that are dangerous, illegal, or against company policy. Identify safety issues in the workplace and assume responsibility to take immediate action to correct or immediately elevate to the appropriate level for resolution. Lead the maintenance organization to drive up‑time and reliability performance across the site. Drive and manage the precision, preventive and predictive maintenance process for the plant with a focus to improve key maintenance metrics. Drive the continuous improvement process within the maintenance organization. Lead the training efforts within the maintenance organization to further develop and grow the team's knowledge, skills and abilities. Ensure effective prioritization, planning and execution of scheduled maintenance department work. Provide effective leadership of the maintenance hourly workforce, including performance management, development, training, communication, employee relations and timecard management. Drive and support Maintenance system improvements (M3 maintenance utilization, planning effectiveness, equipment criticality, storeroom organization, PM effectiveness, and technology utilization). Support line operations to achieve key performance measures (e.g., sq ft/hr, quality, cost, downtime, and scrap). Support plant safety and environmental goals through established programs and procedures (touch audits, safety corrective actions/preventive actions, incident investigations, ergonomic program, safety training, etc.). Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities Able to be perceptive and have a strong awareness of surroundings to identify potential risks and communicate these risks to employees. Experience and knowledge of Six‑Sigma principles and Lean manufacturing. Demonstrated ability to lead a cross‑functional team through a root‑cause analysis/problem‑solving process. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple and ever‑changing priorities and meet established deadlines. Demonstrated track record in driving continuous improvement and achieving goals. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, and Outlook). Qualifications Mechanical or Electrical Engineering degree or related engineering field; Bachelor's or equivalent experience. 5+ years of experience supervising a maintenance function within a manufacturing environment. Must possess shift and schedule flexibility of regular time as well as any shift that may include off‑hours and/or weekends, as needed. Knowledge of precision, preventive, and predictive maintenance processes (vibration analysis, thermal imaging, laser alignment). Experience developing and managing capital improvement projects. Skills with Lean manufacturing and other process improvement techniques. Proficient in AutoCAD. Must be able to successfully complete and pass a background check, employment verification and drug screening. Positive and verifiable work history. Must follow safety guidelines and wear applicable safety equipment, e.g., safety glasses, side shields, approved safety shoes, and other PPE as needed. Push, pull, carry and lift 20-50 lbs. Walking, stretching, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching, grasping and repetitive movements. Talk, hear, read, write and comprehend English.
