Bookkeeper

Fast-growing, family-owned 3PL fulfillment company is hiring a Bookkeeper to help manage the financial operations behind a high-volume, fast-scaling business. We move hundreds of thousands of packages a month for clients across the country, and the numbers behind that operation need someone detail-oriented, analytical, and comfortable digging in when something doesn't look right. This is not a simple data-entry bookkeeping role. We're looking for someone who takes ownership of day-to-day bookkeeping while also auditing carrier and vendor charges, reconciling shipping costs against what we bill our customers, and helping identify discrepancies before they become bigger problems. You'll start by fully learning our bookkeeping processes, and as you find your rhythm, you'll take on more — including purchasing, vendor evaluation, and carrier/vendor cost analysis. WHAT YOU'LL OWN Maintain accurate, timely financial records and manage day-to-day bookkeeping. Process invoices, vendor payments, and customer payments. Perform bank, credit card, and general ledger reconciliations. Assist with month-end accounting processes and supporting documentation. Support management and outside accounting professionals with requested information and reporting. Audit shipping carrier invoices against charges recorded in company systems, comparing what carriers charge us against what we bill customers to catch discrepancies. Review carrier billing adjustments and investigate questionable or unexplained charges. Audit hours submitted by our temp staffing services against what was actually approved by management, making sure we're billed accurately. Flag recurring billing issues and trends, and work with other departments to get them corrected going forward. Purchasing & Vendor Management (as you grow into the role) Once you've settled into the bookkeeping side, take on purchasing responsibilities — evaluating vendors, comparing pricing, and helping manage day-to-day purchasing needs. Maintain vendor pricing, terms, and purchasing history. Identify opportunities to reduce costs or improve purchasing terms as you get to know our vendor relationships. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Proven bookkeeping or accounting experience, with strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and Excel. Experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, reconciliations, and general ledger accounting. A naturally analytical mindset — when a number looks off, you investigate it until you know why. Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills. Comfortable working independently and taking ownership of your responsibilities with minimal oversight. Strong communication skills — able to explain financial findings clearly to people outside of accounting. Comfortable learning new systems and software; experience with shipping carrier invoices, purchasing, or vendor management is a plus.
