A well-established organization in the student transportation industry is seeking an experienced General Manager to lead a local operation.

This is an opportunity for a hands-on, people-first leader who thrives on developing teams, building strong customer partnerships, driving operational excellence, and taking ownership of financial performance.

Key Responsibilities

• Own the overall performance, operations, and results of the local operation.
• Lead, coach, mentor, and develop a diverse team across operations, dispatch, routing, maintenance, safety, and administration.
• Create a customer-centric culture focused on service excellence, strong partnerships, and customer retention.
• Develop and execute operating plans aligned with broader business goals and objectives.
• Manage budgets and participate in the development of annual operating plans and business reviews.
• Develop short- and long-term strategies to drive revenue growth, profitability, and operational performance .
• Take ownership of the operation's P&L and financial results .
• Partner with regional leadership to address operational challenges, resource needs, and business priorities.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with school district administrators, customers, employees, community organizations, and government partners .
• Regularly review service quality and performance with customers and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Establish and maintain a strong culture of safety, accountability, and high-quality service .
• Identify safety and operational risks and take appropriate corrective action.
• Support business development and sales initiatives, including gathering information and assisting with proposals and new business opportunities.
• Lead by example with integrity, professionalism, and strong ethical business practices .

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field OR 10+ years of comparable experience ; MBA preferred.
• 3+ years of supervisory or management experience with P&L oversight.
• Demonstrated success leading and developing teams.
• Proven ability to deliver strong customer service, safety, and operational results .
• Strong financial, business planning, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience managing customer relationships and resolving complex operational issues.
• Knowledge of risk assessment and the ability to make sound business decisions.
• Understanding of contract administration and/or RFP processes is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of leadership and management practices.
• Bilingual skills are a plus.
