Advanced Practice Provider (PA/NP) - NC Surgery Cancer Center

Position Summary We are currently searching for an Advanced Practice Provider, preferably with Surgical Oncology and/or HPB experience, to join the NCS Surgical Oncology team at Rex/UNC. The APP will work alongside an experienced team of two Surgeons and one other APP to deliver patient‑centered comprehensive care. The role focuses on inpatient clinical care, outpatient care, and operating room duties. The position is 4 days per week with one night per week phone coverage and one weekend per month (rounds, OR, as needed). Responsibilities Clinical: Obtains health history, performs physical assessments, reviews diagnostics, develops differential diagnoses, and implements treatment plans with prescribing/ordering consistent with departmental guidelines. Conducts preventive screenings, maintains records, maintains knowledge of disease processes, and prioritizes workflow for efficient patient flow. Education: Professionally educates clients/families, mentors clinicians and students, and develops educational materials. Attends training sessions as needed. Leadership: Provides instruction to physicians, housestaff, nursing, and ancillary staff. Participates in community/outreach programs, leads outreach initiatives, and contributes to system improvements. Professional Interactions: Communicates respectfully and timely with patients, families, and colleagues; resolves issues and shares workload responsibility. Quality/Research: Engages in continuous quality improvement, consults with management on clinical/system issues, leads interdisciplinary teams, and develops new clinical programs or protocols based on evidence. Other Information Education Requirements Completion of an accredited graduate‑level Advanced Practice Provider program (APRN or PA). Licensure / Certification Requirements Licensed as an Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant, Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner, Certified Nurse Midwife, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist) in North Carolina. Board certification if required by the Department; DEA registration. Professional Experience Requirements No prior experience required. Knowledge / Skills / Abilities Requirements Demonstrated clinical competency. Effective leadership and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong written and verbal communication and analytical skills. Documentation in the medical record supporting billing accuracy.
