Waev Inc. is an electric mobility OEM founded in 2021 to manufacture, distribute, market, and support the GEM, Taylor-Dunn and Tiger brands. GEM was the first commercially-produced, street-legal low-speed vehicle in the United States. GEMs shuttle people and goods across city centers, residential communities, government campuses, colleges and universities, and other micro-environments. Founded in 1949, Taylor-Dunn burden carriers, personnel carriers, and stockchasers have been trusted solutions in a broad range of commercial environments and provide premium reliability, safety features, and all-electric efficiency for industrial grade applications. Tiger heavy-duty tow tractors have been towing cargo, baggage, parcel, and other equipment in ground support applications since 1981. Waev's headquarters and factory are located in Anaheim, California.

 

J OB SUMMARY

The Buyer is responsible for purchasing parts, materials, and components to support Waev's manufacturing operations. This is a fast-paced, high-volume role requiring someone who can effectively manage multiple parts, suppliers, purchase orders, and competing priorities.

The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and has a strong sense of urgency. They are comfortable negotiating with suppliers, pushing back when necessary, resolving shortages, and taking ownership of issues that could impact production.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBLITIES:

• Purchase parts, materials, and components to support daily manufacturing and production needs, including creating and managing multiple POs daily.

• Manage a high volume of parts, suppliers, and open orders while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

• Monitor supplier performance and proactively follow up on orders, lead times, and deliveries to keep materials moving.

• Identify and resolve shortages, delays, and supply issues quickly to minimize impact to production.

• Partner closely with Production, Engineering, Inventory, and other teams to prioritize material needs and support production schedules.

• Negotiate pricing, lead times, terms, and other supplier requirements, while confidently pushing back when necessary.

• Source new suppliers and alternative materials as needed; obtain and evaluate quotes based on cost, quality, availability, and lead time.

• Identify and support cost savings and supplier improvement opportunities.

• Maintain accurate purchasing and supplier information within the ERP/MRP system and resolve PO, pricing, quantity, delivery, and invoice discrepancies.

• Build strong vendor relationships while maintaining accountability, urgency, and follow-through.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.

• 3+ years of purchasing, procurement, buying, or relevant manufacturing experience.

• Experience managing a high volume of parts, POs, and suppliers in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

• Experience with ERP/MRP systems and purchasing processes.

• Experience with supplier negotiations, materials planning, or sourcing preferred.

• Excellent attention to detail, organization, and follow-through while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Proactive, resourceful, and solutions-oriented with a positive, high-energy approach.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work effectively across teams.
• Ability to creatively source alternate suppliers and materials when needed.
• Ability to professionally represent Waev while developing productive working relationships with suppliers.
• Ability to analyze pricing and identify cost savings opportunities .
• Ability to read and interpret engineering documentation, drawings, and technical data.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and ERP/MRP systems.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Location: On-site in Anaheim, CA
• Environment: Fast-paced office/manufacturing/warehouse environment
