Construction Estimator
$90,000-$110,000 / year (Plus yearly bonus) Pontiac, MI
Responsibilities
- Review blueprints, drawings, specifications, RFPs, and bid documents to determine project scope.
- Perform quantity takeoffs and estimate materials, labor, equipment, and subcontractor costs.
- Research current material, labor, and equipment pricing to develop accurate estimates.
- Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor bids.
- Prepare detailed, competitive bid proposals and ensure deadlines are met.
- Identify potential project risks, scope gaps, and cost concerns.
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, operations, and other internal teams.
- Communicate with clients, vendors, and subcontractors to clarify scope and pricing.
- Maintain accurate estimating records and historical cost data.
- Stay current on construction costs, industry trends, building codes, and estimating technology.
- Look for opportunities to improve estimating accuracy, efficiency, and profitability.
Qualifications
- Construction estimating experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, labor, and project costs.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and construction specifications.
- Strong analytical and mathematical skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Excellent communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong vendor and subcontractor negotiation skills.
