Structured Cabling Installer I
Structured Cabling Installer I (BICSI INST1) Position Summary
Responsible for installing horizontal cabling and basic infrastructure components according to company standards, TIA guidelines, and BICSI best practices with limited supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Work mostly independently on basic tasks
- Install Cat5e/Cat6/Cat6A cabling
- Terminate jacks, plates, patch panels
- Install J-hooks, supports, and cable tray
- Read basic drawings, cable schedules & pull sheets
- Understand TIA standards conceptually
- Assist with basic testing and documentation
- Maintain labeling accuracy and log pathways
- Assist with test setup
- Mentor helpers when assigned
Required Qualifications
- 1+ year field experience
- Knowledge of basic installation methods
- Able to interpret simple drawings
Preferred Qualifications
- BICSI Installer 1 (INST1)
- OSHA-30
- Manufacturer copper training
