Low Voltage Cable Technician

Overview MCS is hiring for Low Voltage Cable Technicians at Orlando, FL. This is a full-time, permanent position with benefits. The Low Voltage Cable Technician must demonstrate adaptability by being able to install multiple types of devices, read prints, and follow directions and assignments from the Site Superintendent/PM. The role requires good communication skills and the ability to work well in a team. Candidates should keep abreast of industry trends and applicable Government regulations. Responsibilities Installing devices such as Card readers, door contacts, motion Rex, Intercoms, Motion Detectors, Glass Breaks, Speakers, Nurse Call lights, Push Buttons, and Patient Stations. Installing and terminating all Low Voltage cabling. Terminating, testing, and labeling end-user devices. Comm room build-out. Utilizing industry standards and company-approved installation methods and techniques. Ensuring all work complies with applicable AHJ codes and industry standards. Ensuring plans, specs, and wiring diagrams are adhered to. Maintaining open communication with direct superior to ensure work quality, performance, and materials meet schedules and expectations. Qualifications & Requirements Educational Requirements: High School diploma or equivalent. Certification Requirements: Ability to obtain a Florida State JLA (Jessica Lunsford Act) Badge. Experience Requirements: 2+ years in a Tech Role; 2+ years’ experience in the commercial building construction industry related to Structured Cabling, Security, Access Control, CCTV, A/V, Paging. Nurse Call, Sound Masking. Must have reliable transportation. Must have own hand tools. Must be willing to travel up to 50%. Must be able to stand, kneel and crouch for long periods of time. Must be able to climb ladders and scaffolding. Must be able to lift in excess of 50 pounds. Must be able to work in high places and in confined places. Work sites vary from finished space interiors to new construction sites. Appropriate dress according to the work environment is required. Work hours will vary according to individual projects; some jobs may require weekend shifts. Work Environment & Physical Demands Inside environment may be a cubicle with close quarters, and variable lighting. Work may be performed in the field or outside, with environmental conditions including hot, dusty, cold, wet, icy, or windy climates. Regular attendance and ability to work any shift as required. May be required to travel to areas with varying field conditions; night and weekend work possible. Physical requirements include climbing ladders, working at heights, and in small, confined spaces; ability to sit, stand, kneel, or crouch for extended durations; lifting/moving equipment up to 50 pounds. Additional Information Must possess a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record; company vehicles may be used for business purposes, with MCS reserving the right to conduct motor vehicle record checks. Compliance with OSHA standards and company policies is mandatory.
