Communications & Digital Content Coordinator

The Communications and Digital Content Coordinator will play a critical role in building awareness for the VCU Division of Community Engagement, Mary and Frances Youth Center, and VCU Health Hub at 25th, while highlighting VCU's community engagement activities in support of our Carnegie community engaged classification. The successful candidate will work closely with the VCU Division of Community Engagement staff on a wide range of projects, programs, and initiatives, bringing awareness of community engagement initiatives to VCU and the Greater Richmond community. This role requires creativity, boldness, purpose, receptiveness, and inquisitiveness. The Coordinator will ensure that VCU's community engagement successes, activities, celebrations, and themes are communicated effectively to both internal and external stakeholders, aligning with VCU's brand and goals.

Typical responsibilities include:

• Produce photography, videography, motion graphics, animation, and multimedia storytelling content to promote Division programs, educational initiatives, community engagement activities, and strategic communications
• Manage and maintain Division websites by developing accessible content, designing webpages, creating digital assets, implementing updates, and ensuring alignment with university branding, accessibility standards, and user experience best practices
• Produce compelling visual storytelling through photography, videography, graphic design, and multimedia content that reflects the Division's commitment to community engagement, and organizational impact
• Lead the design and production of print and digital communication materials, including annual reports, brochures, presentations, newsletters, infographics, web graphics, signage, marketing collateral, and promotional assets supporting Division programs, initiatives, and events
• Create, manage, and optimize newsletters, annual and executive reports, email marketing campaigns, and branded communication materials for internal and external audiences
• Create, manage, and optimize email marketing campaigns, newsletters, audience segmentation, branded communication templates, and digital communications to support Division initiatives and stakeholder engagement
• Write, edit, and publish website content, newsletters, feature stories, blog posts, marketing copy, annual reports, and promotional materials highlighting Division programs, partnerships, organizational impact, and community engagement initiatives in alignment with VCU brand standards and in partnership with the Provost's Office communications team.
• Develop communication plans, messaging strategies, and integrated marketing campaigns aligned with Division priorities, the VCU Quest 2028 Strategic Plan, university initiatives, and community engagement goals

Minimum qualifications include:

• Bachelor's degree in Journalism, English, Communications, or 2+ years of professional experience managing successful marketing and/or social media campaigns
• Exceptional interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including writing, editing, and proofreading
• Knowledge of VCU policies and procedures related to communication
• Previous experience working with activities related to community engagement and community-based activities
• Previous experience supervising students working on community engagement activities
• Experience working with university and community stakeholders to develop communication content
• Ability to cultivate a positive and productive workplace through communication, vision, teamwork, and commitment
• Self-motivated, strategic, creative, entrepreneurial, and energetic
• Flexibility and willingness to perform a wide range of tasks as necessary
• Problem-solving skills using sound judgment and professional discretion
• Strong work ethic and time management skills
• Demonstrated ability to work in and foster an environment of respect, professionalism and civility with a population of faculty, staff, and students from all backgrounds and experiences, or a commitment to do so as a staff member at VCU

Preferred qualifications include:

• Experience with various communications channels such as web-based, broadcast, print media, and social media platforms
• Experience working in Google Suite and Smartsheet applications
• Experience working in Adobe Creative Cloud applications
• Familiarity with VCU systems such as Banner, Navigate, RealTime, etc.
• Knowledge of the VCU's strategic plan, mission, vision, values, and administrative practices.

Salary Range: $56,400 - $71,800
