Job Summary

A business law firm serving government contractors and commercial businesses is seeking a California-licensed Labor & Employment Litigator with 7–12 years of substantive experience to join its Labor & Employment and Litigation & Dispute Resolution practice groups.

The successful candidate will provide legal advice and counsel to management-side clients, with a strong focus on California employment law, and serve as first- or second-chair in California state and federal court litigation and arbitration. The role involves handling a broad range of labor and employment matters, including wage and hour disputes, meal and rest break claims, Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA) actions, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) matters, discrimination, sexual harassment, restrictive covenant, and retaliation claims in both individual and class action settings.

In addition to employment litigation, the attorney may also work on commercial litigation matters involving government contracts, commercial contracts, construction disputes, white-collar civil matters, and other business-related disputes.

Key Responsibilities

• Advise and counsel management-side clients on California labor and employment law.
• Represent clients in California state and federal courts, as well as arbitration proceedings.
• Lead or support litigation as first- or second-chair attorney.
• Handle employment litigation involving wage and hour, PAGA, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, restrictive covenant, and related claims.
• Collaborate with attorneys across practice groups on commercial litigation matters.
• Conduct legal research, draft pleadings, motions, and other litigation documents.
• Work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.

Qualifications

• Active license to practice law in California.
• 7–12 years of substantive labor and employment litigation experience.
• Admission to the District of Columbia Bar or eligibility for prompt admission.
• Strong verbal, written, and legal research skills.
• Demonstrated ability to manage complex litigation and client relationships.
• Experience representing employers in labor and employment matters is strongly preferred.

Work Arrangement

• Full-time, hybrid, in-office, or fully remote options available.
• Candidates may reside anywhere within the United States.
• Occasional travel to California is required based on litigation needs
