Registered Nurse - Mother Baby / Postpartum

Job Summary:

The Registered Nurse for the Mother Baby/Postpartum unit provides specialized patient care to women of childbearing age and their newborns, ensuring safety, recovery, and discharge readiness. This role demands clinical expertise in postpartum and neonatal care, along with strong assessment and communication skills.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Provide comprehensive nursing care to postpartum women and newborns, including assessments, medication administration, and monitoring.
  
  
• 
  Recognize and respond promptly to clinical risk factors such as sepsis, VTE/DVT, and pressure injuries.
  
  
• 
  Educate patients and families on postpartum recovery, newborn care, and discharge instructions.
  
  
• 
  Document patient information accurately in EPIC and Meditech systems, ensuring compliance with hospital policies.
  
  
• 
  Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care.
  
  
• 
  Maintain unit standards, follow policies, and adhere to dress code and safety requirements.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Valid registered nurse license in the state of Kansas or relevant jurisdiction.
  
  
• 
  Graduate from an accredited nursing program; BSN preferred.
  
  
• 
  Current BLS and NRP certifications.
  
  
• 
  Ability to quickly assess patient needs, prioritize tasks, and deliver compassionate care.
  
  
• 
  Demonstrated understanding of postpartum and neonatal care procedures and policies.
