RN Unit Manager

Unit Secretary – North Shore Medical Center We are looking for a Great Unit Secretary who will work full‑time days at North Shore Medical Center. The primary function is to provide continuous nursing, medical, and other health and social services on a 24‑hour basis, under physician‑directed care and RN supervision. Position Summary Responsible for performing general secretarial and clerical duties, assisting nurses in basic patient care needs such as passing out meal trays, answering call bells, activities of daily living, preparing patient rooms prior to arrival, taking specimens to the lab, patient and family rounding, and other duties as assigned by the unit nurse manager/assistant nurse manager/charge nurse. Also responsible for ordering and stocking supplies through the IMMS system and office supply vendors, inventory/cycle count, maintaining PAR monitoring items for expiration, and overseeing the orderliness of nurses' desk areas. Responsibilities Perform general secretarial and clerical duties within the patient care unit. Assist in basic patient care tasks (meal trays, call bells, activities of daily living). Prepare patient rooms before patient arrival and round with patients and families. Manage supply ordering, inventory, cycle counts, and PAR monitoring. Maintain organization of nurses' desk areas and order necessary forms and supplies. Follow unit policies and procedures, and support staff in a fast‑paced environment. Qualifications Completion of an approved program for unit secretaries or equivalent experience preferred. Prior Secretary Tech/CNA experience preferred. Strong computer and typing skills. Working knowledge of medical terminology. Ability to perform effectively in a fast‑paced, stressful environment. Required Licenses/Certifications High School diploma or equivalent.
