Position Overview

KēSTA I.T. is seeking an experienced Senior+ Backend Engineer to join a dynamic, fully remote engineering team. This role is ideal for a highly skilled backend engineer with strong experience building scalable web services and APIs using Go (Golang) , with a solid understanding of web application security, distributed systems, and network architecture.

The Senior+ Backend Engineer will play a critical role in designing, developing, and improving backend services that support high-scale, customer-facing applications. The ideal candidate brings an ownership mindset, strong technical judgment, and a passion for building reliable, secure, and maintainable systems.

As a remote-first opportunity, this role requires thoughtful collaboration, accountability, and trust. The successful candidate will be comfortable working independently while partnering closely with other engineers and technical stakeholders to solve complex problems and continuously improve the platform.

What You'll Do

• Design and develop backend services and API layers for scalable, multi-tenant applications
• Build and maintain customer-facing and enterprise-facing web service infrastructure operating at scale
• Design and implement secure, reliable, and highly available web application architectures
• Develop and maintain RESTful and REST-like APIs
• Design systems with scalability, performance, reliability, and maintainability in mind
• Conduct code reviews and provide thoughtful technical feedback to other engineers
• Troubleshoot complex production issues and identify opportunities for long-term improvements
• Improve the performance, reliability, and scalability of existing codebases and services
• Collaborate with engineering and technical stakeholders to develop solutions to complex architectural and technical challenges
• Contribute to technical strategy, architecture decisions, and engineering best practices

What You'll Bring

• 7+ years of professional experience developing backend services and APIs
• Strong professional experience building high-traffic web services using Go (Golang)
• Strong understanding of distributed, highly available, and scalable cloud-based systems
• Strong understanding of architecture and design patterns for complex web services
• Experience designing and implementing RESTful/REST-like APIs
• Experience working with containers and containerized applications
• Experience working with Content Delivery Networks (CDNs)
• Strong understanding of web application architecture and security
• Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex technical problems and improve system reliability
• Strong understanding of software development best practices, including code reviews, testing, maintainability, and version control
• Ability to work effectively in a remote, distributed engineering environment
• Strong communication skills and an ownership-oriented approach to problem solving
