Staff Backend Engineer
Zapier is seeking a Staff Backend Engineer to lead the technical vision and architecture for the Commerce Zone, which encompasses billing, subscriptions, payments, and pricing. This role is crucial for maintaining accurate and efficient infrastructure that supports the company's revenue generation. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to implement innovative solutions that enhance monetization processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and evolve the architectural direction of the Commerce Zone.
- Drive high-impact technical initiatives to enhance the monetization platform.
- Ensure the resilience and correctness of revenue-critical systems.
- Guide high-impact technical decisions regarding API design and system architecture.
- Mentor engineers and promote best practices across the team.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- 8+ years of experience in backend engineering.
- Strong knowledge of billing systems and payment processing.
- Proficiency in API design and performance optimization.
- Experience with cross-team leadership and project ownership.
- Fluency in using AI tools for coding and development.
