Ophthalmic Technician - Garden City

Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Ophthalmic Technician in Garden City. In this role, the successful candidate tests and measures eye function to assist the Ophthalmologist in diagnosing and treating eye disorders. Tasks include measuring patient visual acuity, peripheral vision, depth perception, color perception, examining the eye with a slit lamp for corneal and chamber abnormalities, applying anesthetic and dilating drops, measuring intraocular pressure (glaucoma test), charting visual fields, measuring axial length using ultrasound, and performing additional tests and measurements as requested by the physician. Job Responsibilities Performs other duties as assigned. All patient correspondence including, but not limited to, disability forms, patient education, surgical consent forms. Perform slit lamp examinations. Completes medical history, lensometry, auto refracting, PAM testing, glare testing. Performs all aspects of visual acuity testing and visual field testing. Minimum Qualifications To qualify, you must have a high school diploma or equivalent. Five (5) or more years of experience as an Ophthalmic Technician in a retina practice preferred. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant (COA) from a Joint Commission for Allied Health Personnel (JCAHPO) approved institutional course preferred or working toward obtaining certification. Preferred Qualifications Preferable 5+ years experience in retina practice. Certified Ophthalmic Assistant.
