Gastroenterologist (Outpatient) Position - Albuquerque, New Mexico

Major Duties of the Position:

• Provide quality gastroenterology services in our progressive, innovative health care system for the veteran outpatient population.
• Deliver patient-centered diagnostic and therapeutic gastrointestinal care in an outpatient setting.
• Develop and implement individualized care plans to address the specific gastrointestinal needs of patients.
• Perform and interpret endoscopic procedures, including colonoscopy, upper endoscopy, and other related procedures.
• Collaborate with other specialists to provide comprehensive gastrointestinal care, including cases that may require surgical interventions.
• Teach and mentor medical students, residents, and fellows, contributing to educational development programs affiliated with the University of New Mexico, School of Medicine.
• Demonstrate a strong commitment to patient care, teaching, and research, and be eligible for a faculty appointment in the Department of Medicine at the University of New Mexico.
• Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care for outpatient gastroenterology patients.

Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Highly qualified individuals may be eligible for a recruitment/relocation incentive in accordance with agency policy. To receive consideration for an incentive, the selectee must be among the best qualified and meet the criteria established in the VA Handbook 5007 Part VI Chapter 2. Service agreement required.

Compensation and Benefits:

• Pay: Competitive salary, annual performance bonus, regular salary increases
• Paid Time Off: 50–55 days of paid time off per year (26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year and possible 5-day paid absence for CME)
• Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA

• Licensure: 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory

• Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and no significant restrictions on moonlighting
