Executive Director, Talent Acquisition

Job Overview As a key member of the Gilead Talent Acquisition Leadership Team, the Executive Director of Talent Acquisition reports to the Vice President of Global Talent Acquisition and partners with business leaders across functions and regions, including Kite. Co‑located in Foster City, this senior role drives the company’s transformation toward a leading‑edge, scalable and efficient TA function while ensuring high‑performance recruitment of top talent with a focus on diversity. Key Teams Capability Recruiting Team (Global) – 4 FTE (3 US, 1 Stockley Park) full‑cycle recruiters for high‑impact, challenging roles. Strategic Talent Sourcing Team (US) – 5 FTE (lead + 4) focused on building a diverse pipeline in the US, targeting top female, Black, and Hispanic/Latino candidates. Early Talent & University Relations (US) – 1 FTE implementing Gilead’s US early‑talent strategy, including the summer internship program and intern‑FTE conversions. Employer Brand & Talent Attraction (Global) – 1 FTE building and executing Gilead’s global employer‑brand strategy. Candidate Experience (Global) – 1 FTE designing and implementing the global candidate‑experience strategy. Key Responsibilities Serve as a talent acquisition business partner to senior leaders across functions and geographies, including Kite and VPs of HR. Translate business insights, workforce and hiring plans into actionable TA strategies with the TALT and recruiting teams. Lead and develop a team of full‑cycle recruiters focused on diverse, high‑impact roles. Own a significant portion of Gilead’s global TA capabilities, establishing new ways of working and simplifying processes to enhance candidate experience. Collaborate with VP TA, TALT, HRSS, PMO, People Technology, and other stakeholders to build and execute the transformation roadmap. Identify, share and act on talent insights and market trends. Partner with I&D on diversity event strategy. Champion an enterprise mindset and ensure near‑term delivery. Build an AI‑ready TA team globally, assessing learning gaps and upskilling in AI. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree with 16+ years of HR experience in healthcare/biopharma, including scalable HR leadership roles. OR Master’s degree / PhD / PharmD with 14+ years of HR experience in healthcare/biopharma, including scalable HR leadership. Preferred Qualifications Experience leading remote/hybrid teams in a highly matrixed organization. TA leadership experience. Demonstrated transformational, enterprise, and growth mindset. Inclusive leadership with high cultural awareness and emotional intelligence. In‑depth knowledge of life sciences HR and TA best practices. Passion for diversity recruitment and proven results. Business acumen to convert objectives into TA priorities. Strong coaching, development, and retention skills for a high‑performance environment. Comfortable working with ambiguity and exercising sound judgment. AI‑ready aptitude to lead a future‑ready TA team. Inspires culture and implements key processes for strategic goals. Compensation and Benefits The salary range for this position is $281,010.00 – $363,660.00, adjusted for experience, qualifications, and location. Eligible for discretionary annual bonus and long‑term incentives. Additional benefits include paid time off and company‑sponsored medical, dental, vision, and life insurance plans.
