Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining and repairing a diverse rental fleet and customer equipment as it arrives at the shop. You will work primarily on bobcats, while also servicing attachments, mowers, small engines, trailers, cranes, semis, and service trucks. Daily work includes preventative maintenance, warranty repairs, diagnostics, and electrical and mechanical troubleshooting to keep all equipment safe, reliable, and ready for use.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, and repair the rental fleet and customer equipment upon arrival to ensure safe and reliable operation.
• Perform mechanical work primarily on bobcats, including troubleshooting, component replacement, and system adjustments.
• Service and repair attachments and related equipment, including Diamond Mowers, Kohler engines, Kawasaki engines, and Midsota trailers.
• Maintain and repair cranes, semi trucks, and service trucks, addressing both mechanical and electrical issues.
• Carry out routine preventative maintenance, including fluid changes, filter replacements, lubrication, and general inspections.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic problems using appropriate tools and methods.
• Complete warranty repairs in accordance with manufacturer requirements and documentation standards.
• Perform electrical repairs, including wiring, connections, and basic diagnostics of electrical systems and components.
• Use troubleshooting skills to identify root causes of equipment failures and recommend effective repair solutions.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used, and maintenance schedules.
• Support and train other team members by sharing technical knowledge and demonstrating proper repair techniques.
• Take a leadership role in the shop as needed, helping coordinate work, prioritize tasks, and uphold safety and quality standards.
• Follow all shop safety procedures, maintain a clean and organized work area, and properly handle tools and equipment.

Essential Skills

• 1–3 years of mechanical experience in a shop or similar environment.
• Hands-on experience working as a diesel or small diesel engine mechanic.
• Proficiency in mechanical repair, including disassembly, inspection, and reassembly of components.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic issues.
• Experience performing preventative maintenance on a variety of equipment.
• Capability to perform electrical repairs and basic electrical diagnostics.
• Strong understanding of hydraulic systems and components.
• Familiarity with pneumatic systems and their maintenance.
• Demonstrated leadership and training abilities to act as a lead in the shop.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Experience working on bobcats or similar compact construction equipment.
• Experience servicing Diamond Mowers, Kohler engines, Kawasaki engines, or Midsota trailers.
• Experience maintaining and repairing cranes, semi trucks, and service trucks.
• Comfort working with both rental fleet equipment and customer-owned products.
• Strong communication skills for collaborating with coworkers and explaining technical issues clearly.
• Organizational skills to manage multiple work orders and prioritize repairs effectively.

Work Environment

The role is based in a mechanic shop that includes a store front and a rental yard, providing exposure to a wide range of equipment and customer needs. You will work in a hands-on, tool- and equipment-intensive setting, performing repairs and maintenance on bobcats, attachments, small engines, trailers, cranes, semis, and service trucks. The environment combines indoor shop work with access to the rental yard as needed for inspections and repairs. The shop emphasizes safety, organization, and efficient workflow, with typical mechanic attire appropriate for a repair and maintenance setting.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Windom, MN.

The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $35.00/hr.

This is a fully onsite position in Windom,MN.
