Make a meaningful impact supporting the mental well-being and social-emotional growth of high school students as a Mental Health Specialist for the upcoming 2025/2026 school year. In this rewarding contract position, you'll focus primarily on providing counseling and social-emotional support to general education students, helping them navigate challenges and succeed academically and personally.
As a key collaborator within the school community, you will also contribute your expertise by supporting classrooms and teams with initiatives such as professional learning and positive behavior programs. Familiarity with SOAP notes and electronic documentation—especially using Google tools—is required to ensure effective communication and recordkeeping.
Required Qualifications:
- Master’s degree and Michigan LARA licensure (no bachelor’s considered)
- One of the following credentials:
- Licensed or Limited Licensed Master’s Level Psychologist
- MDE Credentialed Master’s Level School Psychologist
- Licensed or Limited Licensed Master’s Level Social Worker
- Licensed or Limited Licensed Master’s Level Marriage & Family Therapist
- Licensed or Limited Licensed Master’s Level Professional Counselor
- School Counselor License (SCL)
- Michigan Teaching Certificate with School Counselor (NT) endorsement
- Preliminary School Counselor Credential (PSCC)
- Temporary School Counselor License (TSCL) (must progress to LLPC or LPC within 24 months)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individual and group counseling for general education high school students
- Document services and progress using SOAP notes and electronic systems
- Offer consultative support and professional learning to educators
- Assist with positive behavior support initiatives schoolwide
- Foster a welcoming, inclusive environment for all students
