OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST

The Occupational Therapist will provide assistance to students with developmental delays or disorders affecting their fine motor, visual-perception, cognitive, and sensory-processing skills. Psychological, social, and environmental factors are considered when providing occupational therapy services to students.

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy
2. Arizona State OT License
3. AZ IVP Fingerprint Card
4. Related fieldwork experience preferred
5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Assist in designing a District-wide program in sensory-motor development to meet the needs of all students.
2. Assist in scheduling the sensory-motor program in cooperation with Special Service Staff and regular classroom staff.
3. Implement the sensory-motor program to provide remediation of developmental lags.
4. Maintain a pre- and post-evaluation of all students in the sensory-motor program.
5. Develop a follow-up procedure of students who have or are receiving the sensory-motor program.
6. Assist in the evaluation of materials.
7. Submit budget request needs.
8. Maintain program inventory of equipment and supplies.
9. Participate in the developing of a District in-service education program.
10. Participate in assessing the children's needs in the area of sensory-motor development.
11. Maintain lines of communication with: Teachers, Students, Parents, and Administrators.
12. Attend grade level and special services meetings.
13. Attend parent-student-teacher conferences
14. Relate all items of concern to Principals and Executive Director of Special Services
15. Submit reports to the administration and Special Education Coordinator as requested

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Able to communicate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community members.

Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to address problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus and monitor students on the periphery.
