You will balance technical accounting expertise with strong interpersonal skills, serving as a trusted advisor to our clients.The Impact You Will MakeClient Support & Relationship ManagementServe as the primary accounting contact for assigned clients, responding promptly to inquiries and providing clear, professional guidanceDevelop and maintain strong relationships with clients, understanding their financial needs and tailoring services accordinglyProvide proactive communication to help clients stay informed about financial deadlines, compliance requirements, and best practicesAccounting & Financial ManagementMaintain accurate general ledger accounts and prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statementsReconcile bank statements, accounts payable, and accounts receivableProcess client invoices, payments, and expense reports with accuracy and timelinessSupport budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for clientsCompliance & ReportingEnsure adherence to relevant accounting standards, tax regulations, and organizational policiesPrepare and present financial reports to owners, executives, and boards, translating complex data into clear, accessible summaries for non-financial audiences.Ensure documentation is organized and accessible for annual audits and tax filings.Process ImprovementIdentify opportunities to streamline accounting processes and improve client experienceProvide input on implementing accounting software and digital tools to enhance efficiencyAdministrativeMaintain digital and physical filing systems for clients and internal documentsSupport client onboarding by organizing documentation, contracts, and initial setup stepsPrepare internal reports, presentations, and summaries using data from various departmentsTrack and follow up on task deadlines and deliverables using project management toolsMaintain CRM and internal tracking systems to ensure data accuracyOther duties as assignedRequirementsWhat You Will Bring to the Table:Bachelor's degree in Accounting5+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a professional services, nonprofit, or small-business settingStrong knowledge of accounting principles (GAAP), financial reporting, and compliance requirementsProficiency with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks) and Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent communication skills with the ability to explain financial concepts to non-financial stakeholdersExperience with budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow analysisStrong organizational skills and attention to detailAbility to manage multiple client accounts simultaneouslyHigh degree of discretion and integrity in handling confidential informationWould be nice to have:QuickBooks Online Advanced CertificationExperience with financial reporting for boards, funders, and auditsKnowledge of ASO operational models and service delivery frameworksSalary:The budgeted hourly rate range for this position starts at $35 per hour and may be adjusted according to qualifications and experience.The Perks:Wellness-Inspired Workplace with a Wellness Program and on-site Wellness Room72 hours of PTOCreativity and innovation are supported and encouraged by leadershipFulfillment and the knowledge of having made an impact on Detroit's economic growth per yearWork Arrangements:This position is primarily an in-person role.
