Lead Mechanical Engineer

An advanced technology company is seeking a Principal

Mechanical Engineer

to develop complex, high-precision hardware from early concepts through prototype and testing. This position will focus heavily on

vacuum systems, precision mechanical assemblies, and hardware integration .

This engineer will work with an experienced technical team to interpret existing engineering documentation, develop updated CAD models and drawings, perform structural and thermal analysis, and turn designs into functional prototype hardware. You'll also work directly with fabrication partners and suppliers while supporting assembly, testing, and design improvements.

What You'll Bring:

7+ years of mechanical engineering experience

Hands-on experience with

vacuum systems and/or precision mechanical hardware

Strong 3D CAD skills using SolidWorks, Creo, NX, or similar

Experience with FEA, structural, or thermal analysis

Background in aerospace, defense, nuclear, semiconductor, scientific equipment, fusion, or other highly engineered hardware is a plus

Familiarity with specialized materials, fabrication processes, or high-temperature environments is beneficial

Active or recently held

DOE Q or DOD Top Secret clearance

U.S. Person

Ability to work on-site

This is a

hands-on design role

suited for an engineer who enjoys working at the intersection of CAD, analysis, fabrication, and physical hardware. Experience designing vacuum equipment, semiconductor tools, accelerator hardware, aerospace systems, or other precision mechanical equipment would translate particularly well.
