Coordinates countywide pre-award planning, organization, preparation, and post-award administration of various grants assigned to departments of Dallas County. Interacts with department directors and administrative staff to ensure grant compliance with regulatory, funding agency, and policy requirements. Provides guidance and support to departments in the identification and development of grant opportunities.

Responsibilities

1. Coordinates, facilitates, reviews, and edits grant proposals; compiles data regarding funding sources and awards; enters and retrieves data. Develops and maintains countywide reference library, including funding agency, grant funding policies, regulations, cash match requirements, indirect costs, track and record related statistical information and creates programmatic special reports. 2. Conducts research on potential funding sources and maintains contact with external agencies. Provides timely advice and information on funding opportunities, requirements and procedures; and collaborates in defining and implementing project funding strategies. 3. Monitors and coordinates the administration of post-award grants to ensure budgeting and administrative policies, procedures, and agency requirements are being followed; manages administrative problems and/or budget changes occurring during the awarded granting period. 4. Writes, submits and assists departments, divisions, and private/public sector partners in writing applications. Edits draft applications for accuracy, completeness, and clarity. 5. Acts as a liaison with funding agencies and groups; and participates in meetings and discussions regarding grant applications and awards. 6. Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training: Education and experience equivalent to a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in English, Journalism, Public Administration, Human or Social Services or in a job related field of study. Three (3) years of professional work related experience. Special Requirements/Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: Skilled in the use of standard software applications. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, and establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, departments and the general public. Knowledge of regulations pertaining to grants, contracts administration, and the research and budget processes. Abilities to interpret guidelines, policies, procedures and regulations. Ability to create budgets for grant proposals/applications.
