Position Overview Quad Preparatory School is seeking a full‑time Middle School Special Education History Teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The anticipated opening is for a new instructor who will provide academic instruction and social‑emotional support to neurodiverse, twice‑exceptional students. Classification: Exempt Reports to: Upper School Associate Director and Middle School Dean Annual Salary Range: $70,000 - $89,000 (dependent on experience and degree) Location: Fifth and sixth floors of the school building; occasional travel to the lower school campus two blocks away. Key Responsibilities Plan and implement high‑quality, engaging history lessons that are differentiated to meet the learning needs of students. Regularly assess students and the curriculum, adapting content and instruction as appropriate; communicate assessment results to parents. Subscribe to and implement the school’s philosophy of progressive and personalized education for twice‑exceptional children. Collaborate with K-12 history teachers to ensure a vertically aligned history program. Support students during co‑curricular programming that occurs during the school day. Create and maintain an orderly and aesthetic learning environment that accounts for students’ social, emotional, and executive functioning needs. Maintain accurate records using the school’s learning management system and student portfolios to illustrate progress and achievement. Empower students to take charge of their learning through scaffolding, modeling, materials, and resources while maintaining high expectations. Collaborate with other academic staff and psychosocial staff to plan, integrate, and facilitate cross‑curricular, inquiry‑based projects. Communicate with parents and guardians to provide feedback on academic and social‑emotional progress through conferences, reports, phone calls, and emails. Follow the professional code, policies of the school, and conduct oneself to promote the mission. Utilize technology, including Veracross, Google Classroom, and the Google Suite. Attend faculty and staff meetings, professional development sessions, and required events such as Curriculum Night, open houses, and parent‑teacher conferences. Perform additional duties as assigned. Required Education and Experience Bachelor’s degree in history, history education, elementary education, special education, or a related field. Experience working with upper elementary or middle school students. Preferred Education and Experience Experience as an upper elementary or middle school history or special education teacher. Master’s degree in history education, special education, elementary education, or a related field. Special education training, especially in gifted education and twice‑exceptional youth. Secondary or elementary education teaching credentials. Experience teaching twice‑exceptional youth. Work Environment and Schedule Full‑time exempt position. The school operates ten months per year (late August to late June). The school day is Monday‑Friday, 8 am – 4 pm, with occasional evening or weekend events (at least three per year).
