Senior Business Analyst

Primary Talent Partners has a new contract opening for a Senior Business Analyst with our global technology client in O Fallon, MO. This is a 6-month contract with a potential for extension.

Pay: $54.00 - $59.00/hr ; W2 contract, no PTO, no Benefits. ACA-compliant supplemental package available for enrollment. Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must be able to sit on Primary Talent Partners W2 without sponsorship.

Description:
The Program Controls & Operations Data Engineering (ProCODE) team enables trusted, enterprise-scale operational insights and automation by transforming fragmented data into actionable intelligence. As we modernize our reporting ecosystem, ProCODE is leading a strategic migration from legacy business intelligence platforms to Microsoft Power BI and Microsoft Fabric, establishing a governed and scalable foundation for enterprise analytics.

We are seeking a Senior Data Analyst / Business Analyst to serve as a key contributor to our Power BI and Fabric transformation. This role will partner closely with business stakeholders, data engineers, product owners, and leadership teams to analyze reporting needs, rationalize existing dashboard portfolios, design compelling visualizations, and drive adoption of modern analytics solutions.

The ideal candidate combines strong analytical skills with exceptional visualization expertise and business acumen. They understand how to translate complex operational data into intuitive, actionable insights that support executive decision-making and operational excellence.

What You'll Do:
Business Analysis & Stakeholder Engagement

• Partner with business and operational stakeholders to capture reporting requirements, define success metrics, and identify opportunities for analytics modernization.
• Conduct discovery sessions, process reviews, and dashboard assessments to understand current-state reporting and future-state needs.
• Translate business questions into analytical requirements, user stories, and reporting specifications.
• Serve as the bridge between technical delivery teams and business partners.

Power BI Migration & Modernization

• Lead analysis activities supporting the migration of reporting assets from legacy platforms into Power BI and Microsoft Fabric.
• Evaluate existing dashboards for usage, relevance, business value, and migration complexity.
• Recommend consolidation, retirement, enhancement, or migration strategies for reporting assets.
• Support migration planning by documenting requirements, dependencies, and stakeholder expectations.

Data Visualization & Insight Delivery

• Design intuitive, impactful, and executive-ready dashboards using Power BI.
• Establish visualization standards and best practices that improve usability, consistency, and adoption.
• Develop KPI frameworks, scorecards, operational dashboards, and executive reporting solutions.
• Ensure visualizations effectively communicate trends, risks, opportunities, and operational performance.

Governance & Analytics Enablement

• Support the development of reporting governance standards, dataset ownership models, and certification processes.
• Help establish trusted reporting practices that improve data quality, consistency, and confidence in business decisions.
• Promote adoption of standardized semantic models and certified datasets.
• Partner with data engineering teams to ensure reporting solutions align with enterprise data governance standards.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities to enhance reporting experiences through automation, standardization, and self-service analytics.
• Monitor adoption and stakeholder feedback to improve reporting effectiveness.
• Contribute to the evolution of ProCODE's operational insights, reporting strategy, and analytics operating model.

All About You
Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in business analysis, data analysis, business intelligence, or analytics consulting roles.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience developing dashboards and reports in Microsoft Power BI.
• Strong understanding of data visualization principles and user-centered dashboard design.
• Experience gathering business requirements and translating them into reporting solutions.
• Advanced proficiency with SQL and data analysis techniques.
• Strong experience defining KPIs, metrics, scorecards, and operational reporting frameworks.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to engage both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to manage multiple initiatives while working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with Microsoft Fabric, Lakehouse architecture, Semantic Models, or modern cloud analytics platforms.
• Experience supporting enterprise-scale reporting migrations.
• Knowledge of data governance, metadata management, lineage, and reporting certification practices.
• Familiarity with Agile delivery methodologies and product-driven development.
• Experience working with operational, service management, program management, or enterprise reporting data.
• Microsoft Power BI and/or Microsoft Fabric certifications.
