Key Qualifications and Requirements:
- Valid North Carolina DHH (Deaf/Hard of Hearing) teaching license
- Proven experience working as a Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing, ideally in a school setting
- Strong knowledge of best practices in supporting DHH students across various grade levels
- Skill in adapting curriculum and collaborating with staff, families, and related service providers
- Dedication to fostering an accessible, engaging, and positive learning atmosphere
- Excellent communication, organization, and advocacy skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide specialized instruction and support to students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing
- Develop, adapt, and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams
- Employ a variety of communication modes (such as ASL, visual aids, assistive technology) tailored to each student’s needs
- Consult with teachers, administrators, and parents to ensure access to academic content and social opportunities
- Monitor student progress and document outcomes, adjusting instructional strategies as needed
- Contribute to school-wide initiatives promoting inclusion and accessibility
