Always Advancing, we embrace an entrepreneurial spirit; as Experts in Tomorrow, we anticipate what’s next; and by Reaching Out, we build genuine connections that enable our people and our business to thrive.Role OverviewHandles claims that involve the investigation of coverage, liability, damages and resolution of both non-litigated and litigated claim files for primary casualty lines, There will be some handling of small contractor artisan claims and project specific policies with emphasis on complex Construction Defect and Owners, Landlords & Tenant (OL&T), as well as wrap claims throughout the United States.Key ResponsibilitiesProactively handle complex claims from the First Notice of Loss (FNOL) to resolution of the claim while working with and advising business partners.Analyze and draft coverage letters while properly communicating coverage positions to insureds, brokers and agents.Assimilate all transfer cases and have current diary on all files. All files should have been worked on and brought current. Understand and apply best practices to all files. Maintain a 1 to1 open to close ratio while reducing average indemnity and additional living expense (ALE).Conduct and proactively handle investigation of claims whenever possible.If outside vendors or experts are needed, direct and closely monitor their work.Draft high-quality reports, set timely reserves, or report to leadership cases wherein the reserves need to be set over your authority.As an experienced adjuster, provide technical advice to claims leadership and underwriting.Mentor and educate less experienced adjusters.Travel to conferences, mediations, and trials as is necessary.Become Proficient on all systemsCompetenciesDevelop work plans, establish timelines, and set goals for proposed work including special projects, techniques and/or strategies.Assign resources as needed.Meet commitments on deadlines.Communicate project results and recommendations to all levels, internally and externally.Leads multidisciplinary projects or initiatives.Drive innovation by improving existing business processes and developing new processes.Perform work thoroughly in a cost-efficient manner and at a high productivity level.Responsible for developing and accountable for project budgets.Comply with all corporate policies and procedures.Report any breakdown in controls to management.Conduct all activities in a safe manner.Ensure all the above are followed by assigned project team members.Does not generally have people management responsibility but may lead or direct special projects.May assist with the review and evaluation of personnel.What You BringEducationBachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, a related field, or the equivalent education and/or experienceDoctor of Jurisprudence preferredLicenses & CertificationsState Adjusting Licenses as requiredChartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) preferredAssociate in Claims (AIC) preferredExperience8 years of relevant and progressive experience in handling construction defect cases throughout the United StatesExperience in Artisan claims as well as OL&T claims, which could include New York Labor Law claimsAdditional QualificationsDeep knowledge of Construction defect claims with an emphasis on WRAP policiesMust be highly proficient in coverage and have handled coverage litigation on behalf of a carrierMust possess a high understanding of Risk Transfer and RecoveryProficient in Litigation Management with an emphasis on legal budget creation and reviewKnows the most effective and efficient methods to get things done, with a focus on continuous improvement and innovationSound analytical skills, as well as strong decision-making and problem-solving aptitudeMust be an exceptional communicator and able to make connections externally and internallyFlexibility and a willingness to learnPossess and have ability to apply advanced knowledge of principles, practices, and proceduresExcellent written and verbal communications skills with an emphasis on confidentiality, tact, and diplomacyKnowledgeable of industry changes, legal updates, and technical developments related to applicable area of the Company’s businessAdvanced proficiency and experience using Microsoft Office package (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word)Travel (if required/needed)Regular travel (up to 50% of time);What We OfferCompetitive salary and comprehensive medical, vision, and dental benefit package, with eligibility beginning on your date of hireStrong learning culture with ongoing development opportunitiesBasic life and disability insurance401(k) plan with 6% company match20 days of PTO, two floating holidays, approximately 11 paid holidays, and volunteer time offPaid parental leaveAn opportunity to do meaningful work and love what you doPay TransparencyThe pay range for this position is $104,600.00 - $143,900.00 which includes geographic adjustments, where applicable. The pay range is the range THMCC, in good faith, believes is the range of compensation for this role at the time of this posting.
