Job Title: LPN Profession: Nursing Specialty: Staff Augmentation Duration: 41 Days Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Hours (6:00 AM - 6:30 PM) Experience: Minimum Years of Experience as required License: Valid LPN License Certifications: As required Must-Have: Knowledge of gerontological/geriatric nursing theory and practice Knowledge of the effects of the aging process Understanding of federal, state, and agency regulations governing nursing practices Description: Schedule includes 12-hour shifts from 6:00 AM to 6:30 PM, full-time (36-40 hours per week). The candidate will work 36 hours in the first week and 40 hours in the next week, with 40 hours not guaranteed. Administer medications and perform treatments on an assigned unit as ordered by the physician and within the scope of the license. Medications may be in various forms, including oral, enteral, parenteral, and suppository. Treatments may include sterile and aseptic wound cleaning and dressing, postural drainage and percussion, tracheostomy, gastrostomy, jejunostomy care, and catheter care. Observe and report the effectiveness of medications and treatments. Ensure an adequate supply of medication and materials is available. Receive and deliver a variety of information regarding residents' medical, social, functional, and other needs. Participate in receiving and giving shift reports. Communicate with residents, families, and staff as necessary to ensure residents receive appropriate care from the interdisciplinary team. Complete the initial admission nursing assessment tool on newly admitted residents. Assist with the development of the Minimum Data Set assessments, ongoing quarterly reviews, and care plans. Maintain appropriate clinical and administrative documentation regarding diagnoses, observations, treatments, and summaries of resident progress. Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives. Attend and participate in staff meetings. Skills in observing and reporting the behavior and progress of residents/patients. Ability to apply and interpret state and agency laws and regulations governing nursing practices. Assist in the development and implementation of patient care plans within a team nursing concept. Demonstrate oral and written communication skills. Show strong interpersonal skills. Ability to abide by nursing regulations. Listen, observe, assess, and respond to medical emergencies. Evaluate, analyze, make independent decisions, and follow up regarding client health problems. Respond to medical issues and inquiries in a professional manner. Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
