. This is a contract, on-site position within our Medical Practice, offering an excellent opportunity for an Associate-level physician to provide essential eye care services to the community. As a locum tenens provider, you will bring flexibility and expertise to a healthcare setting that values compassionate, high-quality patient care.
In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating a wide range of ophthalmic conditions, performing comprehensive eye examinations, and managing patient care plans with precision and empathy. You will work closely with our healthcare team to ensure patients receive timely and effective treatment, from routine vision assessments to more complex ocular disease management. Your contribution will directly impact the well-being of the patients we serve in Lame Deer.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive ophthalmic examinations, including visual acuity, tonometry, and slit-lamp evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat a variety of eye conditions, including glaucoma, cataracts, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy.
- Develop and implement individualized patient treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient history.
- Perform minor ophthalmic procedures and in-office treatments as required.
- Prescribe medications, corrective lenses, and other therapeutic interventions as appropriate.
- Document patient encounters accurately and thoroughly in electronic medical records (EMR).
- Collaborate with nursing staff, technicians, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
- Provide patient education on eye health, disease prevention, and treatment options.
- Participate in on-call coverage and emergency consultations as needed.
- Adhere to all clinical protocols, safety standards, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Stay current with advancements in ophthalmology through continuing medical education (CME).
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and referring physicians to ensure continuity of care.
Requirements
- Medical Degree (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Ophthalmology.
- Valid and unrestricted medical license to practice in the state of Montana, or ability to obtain licensure.
- Current DEA registration and ability to prescribe controlled substances.
- Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience in ophthalmology, including residency training.
- Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making skills.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse patient populations.
- Ability to work independently in a locum tenens capacity while adapting quickly to new environments.
- Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
- Demonstrated commitment to patient safety and quality of care.
- Malpractice insurance coverage or ability to obtain coverage.
- Willingness to work on-site in Lame Deer and accommodate flexible scheduling as required by the contract.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8a-4:30p
Daily Census: 12 patients
Must be board-certified
BLS & DEA required
Paid travel & expenses
$130 - $145 per hour
