Job Summary

An Operator I safely performs tasks and operates equipment as assigned for the production of solid catalyst manufacturing. The operator adheres to all Scientific Design policies and instructions in the performance of these duties.

Major Activities and Responsibilities

• Adhere to all company safety, environmental, and quality policies and procedures. This includes, but is not limited to, the proper use of required personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling, storage, and disposal of hazardous materials and waste, and participating in all required safety training and compliance activities
• Operates equipment in a safe manner in accordance with work instructions.
• Is on time and on the production floor ready to work at the time of the start of the shift.
• Complete production tasks according to established schedules and production targets.
• Perform equipment setup, changeovers, and basic adjustments as required.
• Attends off-shift meetings and trainings as requested.
• Maintains clear lines of communication. Able to be reached by phone if needed by production management.
• Accurately complete production records, batch records, logbooks, checklists, etc.
• Alerts production management to unexpected absences as soon as possible and in accordance with Scientific Design policies.
• Obtains approval for planned absences at least seven days prior to first date of absence or vacation.
• Takes breaks as directed. Adheres to break time policies and timing.
• Applies lean and 5S principles and experience to drive continuous improvement with regard to processing equipment, systems and the work environment.
• Maintains a clean and uncluttered work area. Cleans up process materials as required.
• During downtimes in the production schedule, follows directives as given by production management, including cleaning the production plant and any other areas at Scientific Design as needed.
• Effectively communicates with supervisors, teammates, maintenance personnel and management throughout shifts and during shift transition meetings
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and activities, process improvements, and waste reduction efforts
• Assist EHSS in developing Job Safety Analyses (JSAs) as needed; report incidents and participate in appropriate review meetings; ensure all required EHSS forms are accurate and complete.
• Alerts management to any potentially unsafe work conditions as soon as possible.
• Build a culture of respect for all, with open communication, in which everyone has a voice, and in which all opinions are valid.
• Trained in all areas of operation of the production plant. Able to run any area and operate all pertinent equipment when assigned.
• Develop the ability to correctly enter SAP information for process materials and production supplies.
• Perform all duties in a safe, efficient, and professional manner and carry out other job-related responsibilities as assigned by management.

Job Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Computer proficiency. Preferred skills in SAP, Microsoft Word, Excel, & PowerPoint.
• Excellent safety record with a demonstrated ability to approach safety issues proactively.
• Demonstrated team leadership.
• Ability to solve practical problems and interpret instructions

Eligibility Requirements

• You must be 18 years or older.
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work for Scientific Design in the United States on a full-time basis.

Work Availability

Regular, predictable attendance is an essential function of this position. Applicants must be regularly available and willing to work during assigned hours of operation and such other hours as the company determines are necessary or desirable to meet business needs.

Salary Range (annually) $28,000-$31,000.00
