Sr. Payroll Specialist - Non Profit (Part-Time, Hybrid, Washington DC)

We are looking for a Sr. Payroll Specialist for a leading Foundation. The Sr Payroll Specialist will be responsible for end-to-end management of bi-weekly payroll and managing onboarding and offboarding of employees. Experience with ADP WorkForce Now and ADP Total Source required.

This is a 6-month contract (extensions likely), 20 hour/week rol e. MUST work Tuesdays at the Foundation's offices in downtown Washington DC.

This is a W-2 role as a Stage 4 Solutions employee. 401K are offered.

Responsibilities :

• Run biweekly payroll with a high level of attention to detail to avoid errors in codes, deductions and/or amounts in ADP WorkForce Now
• Partner closely with human resources to ensure communications for time sensitive payments
• Perform manual adjustments as needed, including time and attendance needs
• Perform ad-hoc payroll runs as needed to comply with state specific laws regarding separations
• Work with benefits administrator to ensure accuracy of benefit deductions
• Quarterly and Year-end compliance tasks in conjunction with ADP WorkForce Now
• Special projects such as: W-2 audit and distribution as needed, auditing state and local registrations to ensure tax compliance
• Onboard/offboard employees within payroll system; conduct special payroll runs for separation pays in accordance with CA or state-specific laws per timing for final pays.
• Ensuring smooth transition for employees relocating, ensuring all local and state taxes are attributed correctly

• Perform ADP reporting to support separation needs, including maintaining an updated employee census.
• Partner with accounting team to update ADP department codes.
• Manage the HR and Talent inbox including generalist requests for support, flagging to the appropriate teams across talent, payroll, finance, ADP benefits, or human resources appropriate.
• Manage health and wellness reimbursements, including updating 2026 wellness amount tracker; ensure accurate reporting and tracking of wellness benefits.
• In collaboration with human resources, process background checks and references, as applicable.

Requirements:

• 10+ years of payroll processing experience
• Experience with ADP Workforce Now and ADP Total Source
• Experience with a nonprofit organization or foundation (preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint).
• Ideally, has experience with AI tools or is willing to learn how to use AI to enhance work.
• Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.

Compensation: $55/hr - $60/hr
