Senior Associate Attorney

Job Overview A law firm seeks a Senior Associate Attorney in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role involves working closely with the firm's owner, attorneys, and staff to support clients, particularly in the agricultural and business sectors, with a focus on bankruptcy and tax-related matters. Duties Maintain excellent communication with clients, advisors, opposing counsel, courts, and other interested parties. Supervise and assist the firm's staff in evaluating clients' financial, tax, and legal positions. Assist clients in setting realistic goals and designing strategies to achieve them. Provide excellent legal services and represent clients in mediations, negotiations, depositions, and court proceedings. Conduct new client meetings to present the firm's legal services. Requirements Experience in bankruptcy and debt restructuring. Work history demonstrating increasing responsibility in a law firm or corporate legal department. Experience with Chapter 11 or Chapter 12 plans and related activities. Education: Law degree from an accredited law school. Licensed in the state of Iowa or able to obtain licensure within a reasonable time. Attorneys licensed in Illinois are encouraged to apply. Certifications Licensed to practice law in Iowa or Illinois. Skills Expertise in bankruptcy and commercial law. Familiarity with the agricultural industry. Knowledge of income tax implications for distressed businesses. Strong negotiation skills. Ability to evaluate outcomes in bankruptcy scenarios and determine lien priorities.
