Job Overview:

The Senior Estimator will be responsible for preparing comprehensive cost estimates for complex construction projects. This role requires a high level of expertise in construction practices, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders to ensure project feasibility and competitiveness.

What will you do:

Cost Estimation

· Review and analyze project plans, specifications, and contracts to prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for labor, materials, equipment, and overhead.

· Conduct thorough quantity take-offs and prepare cost breakdowns for all project components.

· Utilize historical data and industry benchmarks to inform and refine estimating processes.

Bid Preparation

· Lead the preparation and submission of competitive bid proposals to clients, ensuring clarity and comprehensiveness.

· Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain bids for various trades, evaluating submissions for accuracy and cost-effectiveness.

· Analyze and compare bids to make recommendations for subcontractor selections.

Project Collaboration

· Work closely with project managers, architects, and engineers during the preconstruction phase to assess project feasibility and identify potential risks.

· Participate in project meetings to provide insights on cost estimates and value engineering opportunities.

· Ensure alignment between estimating practices and project goals throughout the construction process.

Mentorship and Leadership

· Mentor junior estimators and assist in their professional development, providing guidance on best practices and methodologies.

· Lead estimating team efforts, ensuring consistency and accuracy in all cost estimates and bidding processes.

Market Research

· Stay updated on industry trends, material costs, and construction methods to enhance estimating accuracy and competitiveness.

· Analyze market data to identify cost-saving opportunities and inform strategic decision-making.

What you will need to have:

Education

• Highschool Diploma/GED

Other

· Technical Skills: Proficiency in estimating software (e.g., Sage, ProEst) and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

· Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.

· Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders.

· Leadership: Proven ability to lead teams and mentor junior staff, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
