Quality Control Specialist

Description: Quality Control Specialist (Full-Time)
Salary: $60,000 - $70,000 annually, plus profit sharing
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Location: Carol Stream, IL (DuPage County)

Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated Quality Control Specialist to join our growing team. In this role, you will inspect, test, and evaluate machinery and components throughout the manufacturing process to ensure compliance with company, safety, and regulatory standards. The ideal candidate possesses a strong technical aptitude, excellent problem-solving abilities, and the communication skills necessary to collaborate effectively across engineering, production, service, and sales teams. Key Responsibilities
Quality & Machinery Inspection
• Inspect and evaluate machinery, components, and assemblies to ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards.
• Complete inspection reports, maintain quality records, and generate defect and corrective action reports.
• Develop, update, and maintain manufacturing inspection checklists and quality documentation.
• Review and approve machine tear-downs and create post-paint corrective action lists.
• Conduct post-installation reviews in collaboration with service and engineering teams.
• Maintain and improve customer training programs and customer request documentation.
• Assist the sales team with forming parts and customer-related projects.
• Support engineering teams with research and development initiatives.
• Create and maintain machine manuals and standardized documentation templates.
• Manage and maintain CE compliance documentation and regulatory records.
• Coordinate third-party inspections and certifications, including CSA, UL, and international compliance requirements.
• Maintain part-number documentation and ERP system records for traceability and reference.
• Identify quality concerns and collaborate with engineering and production teams to implement corrective actions.

Continuous Improvement & Training
• Identify, document, and communicate opportunities for manufacturing and engineering process improvements.
• Participate in company initiatives and committees, including Safety and Research & Development.
• Learn machine operation processes to provide on-site customer training and technical support.
• Travel up to 10% to customer facilities for process training and support.
• Promote a culture of quality by educating team members on safety standards, quality expectations, and best practices.

Qualifications
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in Quality Control, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
• Strong technical background, preferably within industrial machinery or manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
• Experience using precision measuring instruments and inspection tools.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
• Self-motivated with exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Willingness to be hands-on and actively involved with equipment and production processes.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Assurance, Industrial Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Six Sigma, ASQ, or other quality-related certifications preferred.
• Experience with thermoforming equipment, OEM manufacturing, or machinery inspections is a plus.
