Job Title: Maintenance Technician Job Description

This role focuses on maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing industrial manufacturing equipment to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. The Maintenance Technician works with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, performs preventive maintenance, and supports continuous improvement in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment.

• Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair production equipment to minimize downtime and maintain consistent output.
• Maintain and repair conveyors, motors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, fillers, and packaging equipment to support reliable operations.
• Perform electrical and mechanical troubleshooting on a variety of industrial systems, including power and control circuits.
• Conduct preventive maintenance on mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems to extend equipment life and prevent failures.
• Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to identify issues and guide repairs and installations.
• Calibrate sensors and production instrumentation to ensure accurate measurements and consistent product quality.
• Perform maintenance repair and service activities in accordance with established procedures and standards.
• Follow Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements while performing all maintenance tasks.
• Apply Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures and maintain strong focus on safety and environmental health standards.
• Collaborate with production teams to coordinate maintenance activities and support reliable plant operations.
• Document maintenance work, inspections, and repairs to support traceability and continuous improvement.
• Identify opportunities to improve equipment performance and reliability and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.

• Minimum of 5 years of manufacturing maintenance experience in an industrial environment.
• Strong experience in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing production equipment.
• Proficiency in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting for industrial systems.
• Hands-on experience with preventive maintenance on production and packaging equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.
• Experience maintaining conveyors and packaging equipment, including motors, gearboxes, pumps, compressors, fillers, and related systems.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and food safety requirements.
• Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) experience and strong commitment to safety and EHS compliance.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication with production and maintenance teams.

• Experience working in a fast-paced manufacturing and packaging facility.
• Familiarity with calibration of sensors and production instrumentation.
• Demonstrated commitment to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
• Ability to work safely around moving machinery, dust, fumes, and airborne particles.
• Comfort working in environments with varying temperatures, humidity, and occasional outdoor conditions.

This role is based in a fast-paced manufacturing and packaging facility with initial training conducted on a first-shift schedule. The position involves hands-on work with production equipment, including conveyors, blenders, fillers, pumps, compressors, and power systems. The environment includes regular exposure to moving machinery, dust, vibration, fumes, and airborne particles, as well as occasional work in extreme temperatures, high humidity, and outdoor conditions. Team members work closely with operations staff in a safety-focused setting that emphasizes adherence to GMP, food safety, and EHS standards.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of DeKalb, IL.

The pay range for this position is $30.67 - $47.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.

This is a fully onsite position in DeKalb,IL.
