What You'll Do

As a Housing Program Technician I, you will support housing assistance programs by managing an assigned caseload and ensuring compliance with federal regulations and agency policies.

Key responsibilities include:

• Manage an assigned caseload of housing program participants.
• Conduct eligibility determinations and annual, interim, and special recertifications.
• Interview applicants and participants to determine program eligibility.
• Review and process housing applications and supporting documentation.
• Calculate participant eligibility and housing assistance benefits.
• Coordinate orientations and briefing sessions for applicants and participants.
• Interpret and explain housing program rules, policies, and HUD regulations.
• Schedule and coordinate Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections.
• Negotiate rental amounts with property owners when applicable.
• Prepare, maintain, and update accurate case files and documentation.
• Monitor program compliance and identify potential violations.
• Prepare written correspondence, reports, and notices.
• Assist with hearings, conferences, tenant disputes, and program terminations.
• Respond professionally to inquiries from applicants, participants, landlords, and the public.
• Participate in community outreach, presentations, and informational seminars.

What We're Looking For

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role performing duties related to customer service, eligibility determination, case management, housing programs, public assistance, or program administration.
• Strong organizational and time management skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to interpret policies, regulations, and procedural guidelines.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and database systems.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities while providing outstanding customer service.

Preferred Experience

Candidates with experience in one or more of the following are encouraged to apply:

• HUD regulations
