Position Title Assistant Coach/Director of Operations, Volleyball Position Type Regular Hiring Range $86,000 annual compensation will be based on education, experience, skills relevant to the role, and internal equity. Pay Frequency Annual Position Purpose The Assistant Coach/Director of Operations, Volleyball reports directly to the Head Coach and is responsible for assisting in all aspects of running a Division I Volleyball program, including administrative operations, travel arrangements, liaison to department units, game preparation, teaching and coaching, practice planning, recruitment, academic integrity, donor and alumni relations, and compliance with conference and NCAA regulations. Responsibilities Foster a competitive, inclusive, and values-driven team culture supporting student‑athlete development both on and off the court. Ensure a safe, supportive, and growth‑oriented environment prioritizing physical, mental, and emotional well‑being. Implement effective teaching methodologies to enhance skill development and team performance. Integrate scouting analysis into practice to prepare players for upcoming opponents. Provide mentorship to support student‑athlete personal and professional growth. Recruit student‑athletes within admissions, financial, and regulatory standards while maintaining NCAA compliance. Pursue ongoing professional development for self and staff to stay current on coaching techniques and recruiting strategies. Collaborate with the Head Coach to design effective drills and enhance team performance. Assist with administrative functions such as scheduling, facility usage, and budget‑conscious travel planning. Coordinate travel arrangements (transport, lodging, meals, practice/locker room) and serve as the point person for travel logistics. Support fundraising and external efforts, including donor and alumni engagement led by athletics staff. Represent the university, fostering a positive image and strengthening relationships with stakeholders, alumni, and the broader community. Attend compliance seminars, coaches’ meetings, maintain CPR and AED certification, and uphold all NCAA and conference regulations. Direct day‑to‑day operations including practice scheduling, ticket allocation, and participation in departmental meetings. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Knowledge of volleyball and experience as a coach; understanding of NCAA Division I rules and responsibilities. Strong communication skills and ability to work within a diverse, multicultural environment. Ability to monitor expenses and support fiscal responsibility. Commitment to Jesuit educational values and a multicultural, inclusive community. Education: Bachelor’s degree required. Experience: Minimum 1–3 years coaching experience required; Division I or international coaching experience preferred. Physical Demands Considerable time at a desk using a computer. Considerable time on the court instructing students. Extensive travel for competitions and recruiting. Potential demonstration of athletic activities and campus tours. Work Environment Typical office environment. Athletic facilities and arenas. Frequent events attended evenings and weekends.
