Job Description

Job Summary:
Performs specimen collection, processing, and testing procedures in the clinical laboratory to support accurate diagnostic results. Ensures proper handling of specimens, maintains compliance with regulatory standards, and supports overall laboratory operations.

Responsibilities:

• Collects blood specimens and handles various types of lab samples using appropriate techniques.
• Receives, assesses, and processes specimens for testing, ensuring specimen integrity and quality.
• Maintains accurate computerized documentation for patient registration, test orders, and specimen tracking.
• Prepares and packages specimens for transport to reference laboratories or other facilities.
• Operates and maintains basic laboratory equipment, adhering to safety and procedural standards.
• Escalates technical or specimen-related issues to licensed or certified personnel as necessary.

Qualifications:

• Holds an MLT, Medical Technologist, or Clinical Lab Scientist certification or license.
• Requires a High School Diploma or GED; Associate's or Technical Degree preferred.
• Demonstrates proficiency in blood collection and specimen handling techniques.
• Possesses knowledge of laboratory protocols, safety standards, and regulatory compliance.
• Experienced in using laboratory information systems for documentation and reporting.
