Medical Laboratory Technician I – Miramar, FL Shift: Tuesday to Saturday, 12:00 AM to 8:30 AM Pay Range: $21.07+ per hour. Eligible for shift differential: 10% second shift, 15% third shift. Responsibilities Perform and report assigned analytical tests under the direction of senior personnel in accordance with SOPs, ensuring quality control requirements are met. May perform some moderate‑complexity testing with on‑site training and oversight. Support and comply with laboratory policies and procedures for specimen handling, test analysis, reporting, and record maintenance. Adhere to analytical schedules to maintain turnaround time of results, including STATS or critical results to clients. Ensure reagents/test kits are properly dated and opened. Perform and document QC analysis, make quality control decisions regarding disposition of assays. Inform supervisory personnel of problems affecting test procedures. Report deviations from standard or accepted testing procedures and cooperate with investigations. Enter test results into the Laboratory Information System for physician review. Maintain laboratory areas and equipment in a safe, functional and sanitary condition. Complete training and competency checklists as required. Adhere to all CLIA, HIPAA, OSHA and laboratory safety requirements. Use personal protective equipment, engineering controls and/or work practice controls as directed. Answer questions from clients or other lab personnel, if applicable. Participate in government or regulatory agency inspections, if needed. Other duties as assigned (general description of work performed). Qualifications Required Work Experience: Previously qualified as a Technologist under 42 CFR 493.1433 published March 14, 1990. Preferred Work Experience: 1 to 3 years of clinical experience. Physical and Mental Requirements Lifting: 1–10 lbs frequently; 11–25 lbs occasionally; 36–50 lbs seldom; over 50 lbs requires assistance. Ability to stand and work at bench for long periods. Frequent walking and/or standing. Use of manual and automated pipettes and laboratory instruments requiring dexterity. Knowledge Basic theoretical and operational knowledge in clinical testing. Knowledge of organizational/departmental policies and procedures. Skills Detail‑oriented, independent, able to establish priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Interpersonal skills to interact courteously with supervisors, co‑workers and clients. Communication skills for handling telephone inquiries from clients. Ability to maintain confidentiality of client information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Laboratory Information Systems. Education Associate’s Degree in Laboratory Science or Medical Technology (Required). Foreign candidates provide credential evaluation from IERF. U.S. candidates provide original transcript. Bachelor’s Degree BS in Medical Technology or BS/BA in Chemistry or Biology (Preferred). Licenses and Certifications ASCP certification (Preferred).
