Baylor Scott & White Health – Waxahachie, TX Registered Nurse (RN) – Med Surg / Telemetry (Full‑Time – Night Shift) We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Registered Nurse to join our 25‑bed Med Surg/Telemetry team on the night shift (36 hours/week). The role offers an opportunity to care for a diverse patient population within a supportive, collaborative environment. Shift & Schedule Full‑Time: 36 hours per week Night Shift: 6:45 PM – 7:15 AM Self‑scheduling model No call requirement Unit Details 25‑bed Med Surg/Telemetry unit 1:5 RN‑to‑patient ratio High collaboration with surgeons and interdisciplinary teams Supportive environment with strong teamwork culture Required Qualifications Active RN license (Texas or compact license) Prior hospital experience Strong time‑management abilities Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast‑paced environment Preferred Qualifications Two or more years of nursing experience Prior post‑surgical or orthopedic experience Oncology experience (optional) Opportunity available to be checked off for inpatient chemotherapy administration (not required) Benefits Immediate eligibility for health and welfare benefits 401(k) savings plan with dollar‑for‑dollar match up to 5% Tuition Reimbursement PTO accrual beginning Day 1 Benefits may vary based upon position type and/or level. Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, you will oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, and assessing patient responses. Secure patient travel. Know about patient needs in healthcare. Help patients and prevent issues. Follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act and delegate tasks based on condition and team competencies. Essential Functions Of The Role Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs. Create, implement, and evaluate care plans, adjusting them to reach desired outcomes. Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism in therapeutic connections with patients and families. Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members, empowering them with knowledge for better healthcare choices. Delegate tasks carefully and follow up promptly. Use problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff, prioritizing safety, effectiveness, and efficiency. Achieve goals through teamwork, recognize contributions, commit to growth, and contribute to peers’ development and community service. Key Success Factors Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures. Knowledge of nursing laws, rules, standards, and guidelines in your area. Proficiency in medical terms focusing on health, disease prevention, management, common medications, and side effects. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and written. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with a diverse range of parties. Excellent problem‑solving capabilities driving effective critical thinking. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling and payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
