Talascend is currently seeking a Machinist for a contract opportunity with our client in Golden Valley, Minnesota .


Overview


This role involves setting up, programming, and operating manual and CNC machining equipment to produce precise components while ensuring quality standards and safety protocols are met.


Responsibilities

• Set up and operate manual lathes, mills, and related machine shop equipment
• Independently program and run CNC machines, create toolpaths, select tooling, and validate machining strategies
• Create, modify, and maintain fixturing for machining complex prototype and development components
• Generate CNC programs and machining instructions using CAD/CAM inputs
• Inspect machined parts using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision instrumentation
• Document work performed and communicate changes or challenges to engineering partners
• Follow all shop safety protocols and maintain an organized work area
• Study and record time, motion, methods, and speed to improve efficiency and establish production standards
• Perform a variety of complex tasks and potentially lead and direct the work of others

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 4-6 years of experience in machinist roles or similar manufacturing environments
• Proven experience with manual and CNC mills, lathes, and related equipment
• Strong knowledge of machining processes, tools, and equipment
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and specifications
• Experience inspecting parts with precision instruments
• Reliance on experience and judgment to accomplish goals
