Primary City/State: Glendale, Arizona Department: ICU-Cardiovascular-Hosp Shift: Day Job Category: Nursing Position Summary This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and standards of professional nursing practice. The RN is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by self or by others under their direction. This position utilizes specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills to assess data, plan, provide, and evaluate care appropriate to the patient. Core Functions Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family, ensures completion within appropriate timeframe, reviews diagnostics, reports abnormal results. Formulates a plan of care, including discharge plan, utilizing assessment data and input from patient, family, and health team. Initiates plan based on patient‑specific needs, ensures goals realistic, measurable, developed with patient/family. Considers physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age‑specific, educational needs. Plans care with multidisciplinary team. Reviews and revises plan as patient status changes. Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health‑care team. Provides care per physician orders and nursing plan, complying with policies, procedures, standards of care, regulatory requirements. Delegates appropriately, provides nursing supervision to other licensed nurses and personnel. Promotes continuity of care by communicating patient status accurately. Evaluates the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, revises plan of care as needed. Evaluates patient progress toward goals, effectiveness of nursing teaching. Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record. Documentation is legible, timely, and in accordance with policy, reflecting objective/subjective data, nursing interventions, and patient response. Provides care based on evidence, may participate in research activities within clinical practice. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership. Interacts with and educates facility personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors. Promotes growth of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate. Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes: timely, effective, efficient, equitable, safe care. Actively participates in improving national nursing quality indicators and outcomes; may participate in professional organizations. In some roles, may supervise staff and workflow of the department. Interacts with all levels of staff in various departments, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts, such as other health‑care institutions, community providers, agencies, clergy for spiritual support. Synthesizes and prioritizes data from multiple sources to support patients and families. Minimum Qualifications Valid RN license in state of practice (or temporary/interim RN license, or compact RN licensure) with BLS certification. Experience and education required to perform the job; experience in the clinical area desirable. Maintain clinical performance competencies appropriate to area, demonstrated through annual validations. Banner Registry and Travel acute care positions: minimum one year experience in an acute care hospital setting, within the last 12 months as RN in specialty area. Banner Registry and Travel physician practice positions: minimum one year experience as RN in physician practice or acute care setting. Employees at designated sites required to possess Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card or State of Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card.
