Registered Nurse RN Cardiac Medical PCU

Primary City/State: Phoenix, Arizona Department Name: PCU-Medical-Hosp Work Shift: Night Job Category: Nursing Sign-On Bonus: $20,000 for Night Shift Position Overview: As a Medical PCU Registered Nurse, you will care for patients ranging from heart failure and pulmonary hypertension to pre-heart transplant, NSTEMI, and pre/post cardiac device (AICD, pacemakers). Treatment modalities include ultrafiltration for heart failure patients unresponsive to diuretics. The academic and teaching environment supports learning at all levels and emphasizes collaboration among nursing, physicians, and allied therapies. You may also participate in the Nursing Clinical Ladder Program, recognizing nurses who exceed job requirements. Schedule & Compensation: Full-time Night Shift – 3 shifts per week, 7 pm–7:30 am, including rotating weekends and holidays. Self-scheduling tool is available. Pay includes an 18% night shift differential and a flat $3/hour weekend shift differential.

CORE FUNCTIONS

Assess patient needs across physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning domains. Review patient history, diagnostics, lab data, and communicate abnormal results to physicians and relevant caregivers. Formulate a patient-specific care plan, including discharge planning, using collaboration with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team. Implement the care plan through direct care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the healthcare team, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Evaluate patient and family response to care and teaching, revising the care plan as needed. Document assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record, ensuring legibility and adherence to policy. Provide evidence-based care, participate in research activities, and support education, orientation, and mentorship of facility personnel. Contribute to society by improving patient outcomes, participating in quality improvement initiatives, and engaging in professional organizations. Supervise staff and workflow as required by the role. Interact with all levels of staff, patients, families, and external contacts, including clergy for spiritual support, and prioritize data from multiple sources to support patient and family needs.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Must possess a current, valid RN license in the state of practice or a temporary/interim license; BLS certification required. Additional certifications or continuing education may be required based on the area of practice. Experience in acute care (ICU, telemetry, home health, skilled nursing, medical/surgical, or other critical care) is desired. A minimum of one year of acute care experience in the past 12 months is required for registry and travel positions.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certification preferred. Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
